
Pathophysiology of Diabetes mellitus
The cause of diabetes mellitus in dogs and cats may differ but the pathophysiology remains the same:
- An absolute or relative insulin deficiency
- Reduced tissue utilization of glucose
- Extracellular hyperglycaemia and intracellular hypoglycaemia
